The Holy Books

Muslims believe Allah sent revelation to humanity through a series of scriptures, each given to a prophet, ending with the Quran.

Sahifah (Scrolls)

The Sahifah is believed to be the earliest revelation within Islam, given to Ibrahim and Musa. Some parts are believed to be lost, but sections are mentioned and preserved in the Quran.

Tawrat (Torah)

The Tawrat is the Arabic name for the Torah in its context as an Islamic holy book, believed by Muslims to have been given by God to the prophets and messengers among the Children of Israel.

Zabur (Psalms)

The Quran mentions the Zabur, understood as the Book of Psalms, as the holy scripture revealed to King Dawud (David). Scholars have often understood the Psalms to be holy songs of praise rather than a book of law.

Injil (Gospel)

The Injil is the holy book Muslims believe was revealed by God to Isa (Jesus). Its original message called people to worship the one God. Muslims believe the original Injil was later lost or altered, and its true revelation is honored in the Quran.

Quran

The Quran is the central religious text of Islam, believed by Muslims to be the final revelation from God. It is organized in 114 chapters, called surahs, made up of verses. You can read it in full at Quran.com.
